As summer comes to an end, I'm thinking more and more about the future and what it holds for me. It's always been sort of a scary thought: entering the "real" world and becoming a contributing member of society. But I think it's important to look back and to see what's happened to get me to this point.
This summer, I've been fortunate enough to work with House Casting, a commercial casting agency here in LA. It's been such a wonderful experience; I've gotten to sit in on auditions, help as a reader, and experience firsthand how commercial talent is chosen. House does a fantastic job of handling all different types of client requests, and no two commercials are the same. I've loved every minute of working there.
I've also been spending time at USC's Office of Admission working as a Tour Guide when I can, and that's been great to keep up my public speaking skills. I know I talk a lot about it, but giving an hour an a half tour (sometimes two or three in a day!) is a great opportunity for me to practice in front of an audience. The feedback that I've received on these tours is truly heartwarming, and I love being able to share my school with potential Trojans! Although the days can sometimes be long and the weather hot, it's a great challenge to keep that performing muscle going.
Lastly, I've really been working on getting my ducks in a row for graduation. I know it's a ways away, but in this industry, you can never be too prepared. I am so excited to announce that I now have a talent manager and a commercial agent! On the management side, I have signed with East West Artists, and commercially, with Sean Cawley of Cawleywood. Finding representation is high on the priority list for an actor, and I'm very happy with both.
On the creative side, I've been working too! Last week, I was lucky enough to be in a feature that was filmed up in the Los Angeles National Forest. It was a wonderful experience with a talented cast & crew. Earlier in the summer, I filmed a short piece that I wrote, titled: Good Social Media Mourning (stay tuned! The video will be up soon), and a new neuroscience web video.
Senior year is just around the corner, and I can't wait! I'm taking classes in performance for camera, stand up comedy, and performance for new media. Academics aside, it's going to be my last year, so you bet that I'll be at all of our football games, performances, and I'll be crossing everything off of the college bucket list in an attempt to truly live #thatcollegelife.
For now, I'm making waves in the internet world and I've gotten my IMDB page updated, so check it out and give it some love!
